This large chef knife is hand forged from my own blend damascus steel made with alternating layers of mild steel and nickel over a high carbon steel core. It's got a nice forged taper and has been ground very thin for cutting performance. The handle is made with bog oak from the Fens and a handmade stainless steel cap. The woods deep colour is the result of the the oak tannins reacting to the bog, causing it to darken.

Note: this blade is made with carbon steel which, unlike stainless steel, is 'reactive'; this means the blade will develop a patina and will change the appearance of the blade surface over time and can rust if not properly cared for.
